Beyond the Horizon: Where Will Human-Robot Partnerships Take Us?
Ever wish you could be in two places at once? Help others at a scale previously unimaginable? Enter a danger zone without risking your health? AI and robotics are pushing us past our horizon-level visions and preconceived notions about what is possible for humans to achieve. When these technologies are designed with human needs and shared values at their core, they open up a wide array of new possibilities for human advancement and wellbeing. In this lively conversation, Ana Arriola-Kanada, CEO & Founder of ICMG Next, and Dr. Luis Sentis, Co-founder of Apptronik and UT Austin professor, explore how AI and robots augment our capabilities, provide companionship, and redefine the realm of possibility.
Session officially starts at 11.30am

Speakers:

Ana Arriola-Kanada (They / Them / She / Her / Ella / Elle)

Microsoft, IDEO, Sony/PlayStation, and Apple alum, Ana is the founder of Next, a Horizon 3-focused firm, not your traditional venture capital, management consultancy, product design and engineering firm, AI/ML laboratory, advertising agency, design anthropology, research firm, or intersectional design studio. Ana and her partners are a mashup of all of them, and more. She's currently focused on social moonshots for future generations in Japan.

Dr. Luis Sentis

Luis Sentis, Professor at The University of Texas at Austin, directs the Human Centered Robotics Lab, focusing on AI ethics. He led DARPA's Robotics Challenge, contributing to Valkyrie's design, and received NASA's Elite Team Award. He advises Apptronik Systems.
